Played this North Port semi-private club yesterday afternoon. I had heard that this was a “must play” from fellow area golfers. Having now seen it first hand, I have no idea what the fuss is about. Average condition, average design ( except for the final three finishing holes ) but the real killer was time of play…started at 2:10 finished at 7:30 ! Way too long. Felt like a tournament.

Established in 1998, this Bob Tway design offers 5 sets of tees, but the 6 to 12 handicappers are urged to play from the 6,242 yard “Bobcat” tees. The “Tway” tees stretch the course to 6,748 yards. Join for $3,300 per year plus $5000 non equity initiation fee. Or do as I did…book the day of and walk on for $50 including cart.

Hate to be negative, but I can name 5 local courses that are more challenging and scenic right here in Sarasota for far less money. University Park and Legacy at Lakewood Ranch come to mind. Far better layouts and more affordable.
