As a realtor who specializes in golf course communities,  I closely follow the changing fee structures of our best local courses. And how the times have changed…The Founders Club (” Best Overall Community” in 2008 and 2009 Parade of Homes) has drastically altered their fee structure to acknowledge the difficulty of attracting members in tough economic times. Back in 2007-2008 the Signature Equity Golf Membership had a one time contribution fee of $82,500. Today, the price tag for 2009-2010 membership has dropped to $47,500…down nearly 50%. The annual dues have risen slightly…from $9,420 per year to $9,860…and a new $1000 annual Caddie minimum has been introduced.

This premier golf community has seen its home prices mirror the membership fees. Back in the height of the market homes were well into the million plus range. To illustrate the unbelievable values at The Founders Club today, here is a specific example. An absolutely stunning home on Founders Club Lane closed last Friday ( December 4 ) for $730,000. At the height of the market this property had a mortgage on it of $2,500,000 !  This short sale is a drastic example, but if you are looking for tremendous value on a fantastic Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed course , The Founders Club is certainly worth a look.
