getImageLaurel Oak Country Club

Played Laurel Oak yesterday, just before the afternoon rains. There are two Gary Player designed courses to choose from.

Easy to remember them as “West is best” and “East is easier”. Both courses are on my reciprocal list thanks to my membership at The Founders Club.

Excellent condition thanks to the heavy rains they have experienced throughout August. My two playing partners are there full time under the “Transitional Membership”. For $5,500 per year, they are allowed to play up to 4 times per month “in season” ( November to April ) and unlimited play “off season” ( the remaining six months of May through October ). No food minimums. Plus, they get to enjoy reciprocal rights to a dozen or so high end private clubs, during the off season, including The Ritz-Carleton Members Club and The Oaks Club.

It’s a great option for the local Sarasota golfer who is ok to play just once a week in the winter. The full time fees would be $10,800 per year, so virtually a 50% savings.

As for Laurel Oak Country Club real estate one can purchase a home within this fully gated community for as little as $400,000 ( maintenance free villa with private pool ) up through the multi millions for 5 and 6 bedroom estates.
